Contreras, que sustituirá en el cargo de DT al crepuscular Luis "Hueso" Ramos, tendrá la misión de rescatar al equipo de los puestos de descenso para lograr que se mantenga en la máxima categoría del balompié nacional.
La tarea no luce nada sencilla, debido a que el conjunto cardenal cayó al último puesto de la clasificación acumulada de la temporada, tras la inesperada victoria de Estrella Roja ante Mineros de Guayana. Con la derrota del pasado domingo ante Monagas SC (2-1), el elenco larense quedó estancado en el fondo de la tabla, a cuatro puntos de la permanencia.
El debut de Contreras al frente del cuadro escarlata será el próximo domingo ante el Deportivo Italia (que arrastra una racha de cinco desafíos sin derrotas) en el estadio Farid Richa.
Esta será la segunda experiencia del colombo-venezolano como integrante del Unión Lara, ya que en 2004 fue ayudante (preparador físico) de su compatriota Carlos Eduardo Hernández en la época en la que éste fue timonel del cuadro escarlata.
El logro más importante de su corta carrera como entrenador se remonta al semestre anterior, cuando encaminó al Aragua FC a la final de la Copa Venezuela de fútbol.
“Después de hacer una exhaustiva evaluación, la directiva determinó que Eduardo Contreras era el hombre indicado para asumir las riendas del equipo”, señaló Luis Bueno, gerente deportivo del escarlata.
“Es un entrenador comprometido, que en poco tiempo ha obtenido buenos resultados... estamos muy optimistas y pensamos que él (Contreras) nos llevará a la permanencia”, añadió Bueno, quien aprovechó para agradecer el gesto de Gilson López, quien “gallardamente sacó adelante el entrenamiento del viernes (tras la renuncia del "Hueso" Ramos") y dirigió el partido del domingo”."www.elimpulso.com" |
